TouchChat is a comprehensive Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) solution tailored for individuals facing challenges with natural speech. The application is specially crafted to cater to individuals with conditions such as Autism, Down Syndrome, ALS, apraxia, stroke, among others, where natural speech abilities are impacted.

Within TouchChat, users have the flexibility to select a vocabulary file containing an array of pages and buttons loaded with words, phrases, sentences, and other functional elements. Messages can be vocalized through an integrated voice synthesizer or by playing predefined recordings. Users are empowered to choose from a variety of synthesized and customized voice options to align with their unique personalities.

The Upgrade Store enhances user experience by offering additional in-app purchases like the renowned WordPower® series of AAC vocabularies conceptualized by Nancy Inman. The WordPower provides a word-based vocabulary facilitating seamless and intuitive communication and is accessible in English, Spanish, and French languages. Furthermore, the Upgrade Store presents English vocabulary files (Gateway©, Pixon®60, and Talk About AAC), language packs featuring vocabulary files and synthesized voices (Hebrew and Arabic), services, and symbol libraries.

Customizability is a cornerstone of TouchChat's vocabulary files, extending to pages, grid layout, buttons, messages, symbols, among other elements. Users benefit from over 45 button actions and close to 40,000 Symbolstix® symbols* when crafting new buttons. They are also offered the choice to use existing images or capture photos using the in-built camera feature. Moreover, gestures can be employed for navigation between pages, message delivery, etc.

Button activation settings are adaptable to suit user requirements and capabilities. Variables like button dwell time, button release time adjustments and the option for buttons to activate upon release are configurable.

Additional accessibility methods such as scanning facilities, head tracking mechanisms, and eye tracking functionalities may be accessible based on the device model and could mandate an additional hardware acquisition.

Text production within TouchChat can be effortlessly shared on social media platforms or via iMessage®, email services using a wireless connection. Users can compose a message, tap on the text window, and pick a desired service for sharing purposes. Furthermore, text interchange between TouchChat and other applications is feasible for audio articulation.

Users hold the ability to program buttons for playing audio files like music sourced from the media library or videos from the device repository or even YouTube™ links.

Upon completion of programming tasks, users can import and export vocabulary files through various mediums such as AirDrop, email services, iTunes® file sharing, DropBox™ or Google Drive™. Additionally, TouchChat facilitates subscription to iShare for storing customized files securely (not available for patrons residing within the European Union).
